Our 4 year old son has been a "crier" since he was born. He still cries to this day over anything he has to do, but has no problems with doing whatever it is that he is not supposed to do. Typical, I'm sure.
Typical in our house:
He cries when we tell him to use the potty. But, when he is in daycare or is under someone else's care, he doesn't give anyone a problem. He is completely potty trained; we have not bought diapers in about 6 months now, so there is no turning back.
Lately, he has been crying more often over nothing and everything. Yesterday, he woke up cranky and spent most of his morning that way for no reason. Maybe it is because we are at my parents house for the week and we are way out of our regular routine. But, yesterday, when he woke up from his nap, he cried as soon as he woke up again. He got worse when we got him to the potty and told him to stay in his room until he calmed down. He made as much noise as he could through the screaming and throwing things that we had to go back in because he could break something or hurt himself. Finally, after over an hour, he stopped. We didn't have any problems with him going to the potty last night but this morning was not the case.
I'm about to create a reward chart so that he doesn't get upset every time he has to go to the potty. We really don't know what else to do. He gets upset like this at home as well, so I don't think this is entirely situational.
