I am a sibling to my younger sister (45) and she's been having a number of seizures almost every night for the last 4 months. A few days ago she had small seizures at night totaling anywhere from 40-50. She's had MRI's, was in the brain mapping/EEG unit and filmed 24/7 for 4 days in the hospital. The doctors said she did not have epileptic seizures, which was a good thing, but they think it could be stemming from traumas from her childhood or medications. We are frustrated as well, since now she's lacking sleep, tired and afraid to sleep at nights. There are a few occasions she has seizures during the day while she's sleeping. She believes there's a connection b/w a lupus diagnosis and being in NY during 9/11. Like all of you, it seems like a guessing game. We will see her neurologist this week. He had put her on Keppra and Trileptal, but since they were not helping her, her neurologist stopped the medication. I've been videotaping her seizures and will show the taping to her doctor. If anyone has any suggestions on other medications to help reduce seizures, please share it with us. I will do the same. Good luck to everyone, because, yes, this is a frustrating illness and it deeply hurts when your loved one are going through this. My prayers are with all of you.
