Vaginal twin birth- will I be able to hold the first baby before I continue pushing to deliver the second baby?

I am pregnant with twins without any complications so far and if I am able to deliver vaginally(crossing my fingers) I was wondering if I would have a quick minute to hold the first baby after he is born before resuming pushing with the second baby. Thanks!

It depends how fast they come! My friend birthed twins about 6 months ago. Her first was breech and took a lot of pushing. She got to hold her very briefly before handing her over as her brother was very quickly following! Her husband was nearby and took his shirt off so baby girl could have skin to skin time while she was pushing out number 2. I recommend talking lots to your careprovider about your wishes. Normal hospital protocol may be to whisk away baby 1 for weighing and cleaning while they inject you with synto to speed up the birth of the 2nd. However no matter what the standard procedure is it's your birth and you can decide what the rules are.

All the best wishes for a smooth journey with your little ones.
