Vandalism by 5-8 Year Old Girls

Hi! I live in an apartment complex where I feel like I am the ONLY parent who keeps an eye on the children at the playground. My patio is literally 10 feet from the playground. Recently a group of girls, ages 5, 6 and 8 have been on a vandalism spree. Keep in mind I witnessed every bit of this happening and informed the victims of what was happening to their vehicles. Those people then went to the parents of these children, where the doors were just shut in their faces: Taking items out of a van, tearing items apart and throwing them under the van. Squirting ketchup and mustard all over the side of a vehicle. Dumping a FULL 42 ounce red fountain drink on the back carpet of the previous van. Taking items off other patios and leaving them all over the playground. Two days ago I spent a lot of money on fall docorations, the next evening I went inside to get my almost 2 year old to sleep (about a 15 minute process from the time I went in to going back out) when I came back outside my scarecrows were knocked over, straw all over my patio, all of my mums were torn apart and spread all over the playground and leading right to one of the childrens apartment. I confronted the 2 children at that apartment, who by the way still had shredded petals in their hair. The parents of both children did nothing but say I am sick of this and slammed the door in my face, then on facebook started jumping me saying im picking on innocent kids and making up lies about their children...Now to my question. Would it be reasonable to get police involved with this? NOT to press charges, but more to scare the children. Its obvious that whatever their parents may or may not be doing is not working and I believe this will just keep happening. These children have no respect for others property. Their parents treat them like adults, allowing them to do and say things teenagers or adults would say or do.

Has it been reported to the body corporate? They can do something about it even if they are "just kids". Warnings can be issued to tenants/owners of apartments around this kind of behaviour. It would surely be violating something in the contracts/agreements. Take it up as a civil matter, especially if the others whose cars were being vandalised are in the apartment complex.

Whenb parents refuse to hold their children accountable, then police must be involved. At the very least, perhaps those parents will be mandated to take some parenting courses

I'm not friends with them on Facebook. They are not the type of people I associate with. A friend of mine showed me what was being said. I did post a rant after finding my stuff destroyed, did not mention any names or talk bad about the kids, just that parents need to take responsibility for their vandalizing brats and they took major offense to it. Police were called but they couldn't do anything because "they are just kids" And it just made the parents more angry because in their "world" you just don't involve police.

Get a video recorder out there, get your evidence, and present it to the police, along with vandalism charges for your personal items.

Absolutely. Get video/photographic evidence of the kids doing this and file a police report. I'd also block these parents from your Facebook... why would you associate w/ them on Facebook when their children are little criminals and they won't do anything?
