hi there, i dont post alot because i usually find what i need through the search bar! suprisingly nothing came up for this one!

I know this is a mothers site, I am a mother of two wonderful children aged 5 and 6, I/we just dont want anymore.

I have recently stopped taking the depo shot (which i have been on since having last child) and I finally feel good again!! All those hormones had me crazy and I didnt even know it till i stopped!

Well back to topic, my husband is booked in for a vasectomy and was just wondering if anyone can share their story with me, such as, how long did pain last for him? was it 100% effective? did it change him at all?

Is there anything else i should know?

Thanks

Tubes tied yes I understand that as it can loosen and the likelyhood is higher the more years you have had it.

The vasectomy not so much as they actually severe the vasa deferentia where the sperm comes from. So ya a vasectomy is really 100% as long as you do what you are supposed too as I stated in my last post.

Yeah you would think, but i'm referring to cases where 10 years later they become pregnant.

Well it can be Bonnie as long as the man follows through and doesn't have sex without a condom for 3mo's and follows up and gets checked at 3mo's to make sure he has no more live semen.

Nothing is ever 100% effective. Honestly, I have heard of cases where women became pregnant even though their husband had a vesectomy or the woman had their tubes tied.

Good to know everything will be fine (finally have sex drive back!) and hubby wont be too traumatised!!

You really have to wait three months to have sperm count checked??

Love that I dont need to take hormones for contraception anymore!! Feel great!!

Pain last 24-48hrs, yes it is 100% effective and no there is no change what so ever. No there is nothing you should know. It is simple, quick and easy.

My husband had a vasectomy last year and it's been fantastic!!!! He went in about 8am and was done before 9am. We went out and had something to eat after I picked him up and wandered around the shopping centre.

He had a bit of bruising for a couple of days but not a lot of pain. It did hurt when our 18 month old jumped on him but doing everyday things was fine.

We had to use other contraception for 3 months and then he had to supply a sample to make sure there wasn't any sperm left. When that came back negative to sperm we could stop using anything else.

It hasn't affected our sex life at all, he still ejaculates but I can't get pregnant. He told me it was the least he could do since I gave birth to 3 children and I wasn't going to stop him either :-) Saves me having to be on hormones all the time.
