I just wanted to know if there is anyone who had had a premmie baby that has vocal cord palsy that has grown up to have a voice?

My daughter was born at 24 weeks, she was on a ventilator for 4 months and also had her PDA ligated, when finally she come off her ventilator she had a very prominent stidor, we wasn't told much about this only it was due to her being ventilated for so long, she also had no cry whatsoever, after 7 months in hospital she finally came home in home oxygen, after probably out fifth a&e and hospital stay we were recommended to Ent, during this time we also found she had no laugh only the movements, at 12 months she had an operation to see what the problem was and was told she had left vocal cord palsy and they would operate on after she was 18 months, this didn't happen and after numerous calls and finally getting pals involved we got an appointment we got there only to be told was exactly the same procedure (a whole other story!) the surgeon then told me again she would need an op but wanted a ct scan first then after that the same surgeon told me she didn't need the op and that it was some kind of developmental or hearing problem, neither of which she has but after seeing the child development specialist I got told that the operation was very rare
And that not a lot of surgeons had done it and had now referred me to great ormond street which we are waiting for our appointment, she has finally come off the oxygen but was sent home only two weeks ago on it! And also since then she has started making some noises but still has no laugh or cry, I'm not sure if they are going to tell me the same thing but surely if she had a voice but was developmental issues she would be able to laugh and cry as both these babies so naturally from birth and are not learnt?

I'm just wondered if there is anyone that's gone through the same thing and if the voice come naturally after time? My daughter is 3 in August but due to her prematurity and 19 stays in hospital which put her back each time is probably only on par with an 12-18 month old so am just wondering if her voice will come?

Don't want to sound all doom and gloom because in fact even tho she doesn't have a voice she doesn't know any different and is the most beautiful happy little girl!!
