my 16 month old has just started to scream when she wakes up in the middle of the night. I've picked her up and put her into the bed with me and that's the only thing that help. but then when i lay her back down she starts to scream again. she's a twin and they both sleep in the same room with me and there is no way for me to move them out. I don't know what's going on. She's in there crying out now! I feel bad because i don't know what to do. while soothing skyler, lauren woke up and then i thought what am i gonna do? I don't know if she is hungry or what but she doesn't want a bottle. so im just sitting here in the living room banging my head because i don't know what to do. i can't hold both. My friend told me that she was just pitching a fit and doesn't want to be in her bed? please help!!

It could be separation anxiety. Very popular and normal around this age. She wakes up and doesn't see you and that freaks her out.

It sounds to me like she might be having night terrors. There's not much you can do about them. Usually, if this is the case, the child won't remember these episodes the next day. My son has these from time to time too. Usually I just go in, cuddle and soothe. Don't wake them up, just offer a calming place and hopefully they'll calm down.
