Okay so my son is just turned 12 months old on feb 7th & he has been walking since he was 10 months. Recently a friend of my mother in law mentioned that my sons left foot turns in when he walks. I am anal about everything little detail relating to my son & I barely ever noticed. I honestly was slightly annoyed by the comment & the fact that my mother in law all the sudden noticed it & acted worried. I started paying more attention to it & he does slightly curl his foot inward… I thought I remember reading that this can be normal & usually gets corrected on its own.. I’m actually going to the doctor tomorrow for his 1st year check up but I was just wondering what others thought or know about this subject.

When i went to the doctor the other day she said that we was impressed with how well he was walking & that he is very coordinated for his age. Because of this she said she would not be worried about it he is still young & most kids are just starting to learn how to walk let alone walk correctly. She did say that if he were to continue walking this way when he was 18 months or if it got worse they would start to pay attention to it & corrective shoes are common.

My son had the same thing...my mom was the one that noticed it (we are so used to seeing things on our own children) and suggested help.  I am so thankful that I did!!!!  I took him to a pediatrician who gave me a script that I took to a shoe store...one specifically for babies and toddlers....like Striderite.  He got a pair of shoes with a bar between them and the foot that was turned in was placed in the shoe in a different position.  He was in the shoes 24/7 then only at night.  He slept just fine with it...crawled with the shoes on, could stand...if anything else I think it bothered me more than  him.  He has absolutely no problem with his foot.  He was about 10 mos when he started wearing it and did so until he grew out of the shoes.  I am so thankful that I did that!!!   Find a pediatrician that will work with you because this is so very important.  good luck!

My daughter is 15 months and has been walking since a week before her first birthday and I noticed she does the same thing! She almost walks on the curve of her foot instead of heal-toe. My mother-in-law(got to love the mother-in-laws) siad its because she is flat footed which runs in her family! So I asked the doctor and he said that it is too soon to tell if she will be flat footed and she will eventually grow out of it! HE thinks its becuase she has short little legs and so much weight to carry around! I am sure he is fine! When u do go to the doctors though let me know what he/she says! Good Luck and I am sure he is perfect!

My eight year old still does it, and with only the occasional tripping over his foot it does not seem to harm or bother him. hope that helps.
