I AM A MOM OF THREE: 16, 4 AND 16 MONTHS. I'M FROM GEORGIA WHICH IS A FORMER SOVIET REPUBLIC. FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS I'VE BEEN ALL INTO NURTURING CREATIVITY, PROBLEM-SOLVING, NATURE LOVE,RISK-TAKING ETC. WHILE ALL THESE SEEM TO COME NATURALLY TO ME AND MY FAMILY, THE EDUCATION SYSTEM AS WELL AS MENTALITY IN OUR COUNTRY IS THE VERY OPPOSITE. MY SECOND CHILD BEING 4, WE STARTED LOOKING FOR A 'PLAY-BASED' KINDERGARTEN AND THERE WERE NONE. WHAT THEY OFFER IS:ENGLISH LESSONS, MATH LESSONS,READING AND WRITING LESSONS (WHEN ASKED, NEITHER MANAGERS, NOR TEACHERS HAD ANY IDEA WHAT IMAGINATIVE PLAY IS) AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT SEEM TO APEAL TO THE PARENS(FORMAL EDUCATION FOR 3, 4 AND 5 YEAR OLDS!). WHILE I NEED FOR MY KIDS TO MIX WITH THEIR PEERS, I DONT WANT THEIR UNIQUENESS, CREATIVITY, CRITICAL THINKING BEING IRONED OUT, AND STEREOTYPES IMPOSED. i NEED YOUR ADVICE AND MOST OF ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!!!

maybe this is far fetched but starting a play group with a few other moms and start teaching the kids together these things? maybe meeting a few times a week so tehy are getting the book stuff to succeed on that level in life but from you parents the fun stuff to succeed on the other level and to learn to be kids and to enjoy life.

I first want to say I am sorry I don't know much about the way things are/were there. So if this is way off I apologize. if you get a few mom maybe one day do say an arts and crafts day where there is no rules just finger paints and paper and they can create what ever they want, or have themes like winter, holidays, movies, and they make things like that. Then a day where they just play house or store or things like that where they get to just play. maybe a day where they go on an adventure like camping or scavengure hunt.

This way it would be a way for them to learn how to use and develop their fun side and heal but its also a way for you moms (and dads if that is the case) to heal and have fun and work on playing too. Parents need to get down tehre and play too, often even here in the united states we forget to get down and play with our kids. In the spring (If I remember correctly you have the same seasons as we do) you all can go and play in the dirt together and maybe plant a garden or something, But its good therapy for the parents and kids to do to heal from all of this that has been going on plus it will bring you and the family closer, as well as you your kids and your friends who you are doing this with, even if you start with you and maybe one other friend I am sure with in a month or so it will grow and that will help for everyone involved. again I am sorry I don't know to much about the situation there about this sort of thing. If you want to share I am here and more then happy to listen and learn about it. (if your willing. You can add me to your circle and we can chat :) )
