My son wont drink water. Everytime I give it to him he takes one drink of it and throws it back at me. The only time he will drink water is if he is absolutely desperate for something to drink. So lately in order to get him to drink water Ive been putting honey in it. He is old enough to have honey hes 2 yrs old. My question is there any concerns I should have about putting it in his water? I put enough in it to sweeten it a little bit. He has like 3 sippy cups a day.

@Elizabeth 2 year olds can drink whole milk, it does not have to be 2%. As for the water I would just try and make it fun... Fun ice cubes or frozen fruit, nothing overly sweet.

I do give him juice and milk throughout the day to. He drinks a lot more than 2 cups of milk. But the pediatrician said he needed to drink water.

Honey is 100% sugar..I don't know that I would want my children having that everyday. I do like the ideas the other moms posted about diluting the Pure Fruit juices..not concentrated juices or artificially flavored juices. Milk is also something he should be drinking about 2 cups a day of and 2% for age 2.

I don't know of any concerns per say... unless he's taking a long time sucking on it then teeth sugar might be a concern - but what about mixing juice with water instead (not punch types - just 100% like orange / apple)? Juice has lots of vitamins for them. Milk's always a good option too :) We take 'turns' in our house - juice's turn with breakfast, water's turn with lunch, milk's turn with dinner - the kids seem to like the idea :)

My kids drink water now but when my son was little I used to put fresh fruit in it to give it flavor.
