Weight at 10 months

Okay, admittedly girls have a tendency to be smaller than boys, but my daughter was only 18lbs and 28 inches at 12 months.

I am not sure what charts you are working from, but 18lb is NOT 5th percentile for a 10 month old, or at least it never used to be. According to the ones I have here from 7 years ago, 5th percentile for a boy at 10 months is 15-16lb.

Unless, of course, they have revised the charts because the population is getting fatter. But honestly, 18lb used to be considered fairly normal for a 10 month old, so I think your doctor needs to stop panicking!!

He was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive at 4 months of age. Since then, he never lost weight, but he was only gaining weight slowly. he had an undiagnosed acide reflux problem that created intensive bottle aversion. he went through what i call "million dollar tests" from metabolic to mitochondrial to neuro ect....everything was fine.
So now, here we are, after placing ear tubes last months, we are at a turning point where he doesn't like to eat or drink milk and he is gaining slowly.
18lbs was definitively acceptable 5 years ago (I have the American Association of Pediatrics book from 2007) but I guess growth charts have been updated...which for me doesn't make sense.

I guess I SHOULD ask if the reason your doctor is concerned is NOT because of his current weight, but perhaps he is not gaining on the same curve? Or has he actually LOST weight? IMO, that should be the only reason your doctor should be worried.

He's 10 months old they are eating food instead of just milk and very active so that's why he's not gaining weight very fast. 18 pounds is what both my kids were at that age.

18 lbs at 10 months is NOT less than 5th percentile. He sounds fine, totally on track development wise and as long as he's growing slowly but surely, there shouldn't be an issue. I would get a second opinion.
