IMO.... Never, unless you don't have a choice. Daycare is not a requirement of life. :)

I am a huge fan of preschool though... which my girls started 2 months after turning 3 and my son started at about 3.5.

Kids don't need to go to daycare persay. It depends on if both you and your boyfriend/husband work then you don't really have a choice. If you are just doing it to have your child be social maybe a couple days a week, I would probably wait until the age of 2.

Its really up to you and when you feel comfortable in sending your little one. My first didn't start til she was about 3 and my boy started at 1.

I dont know that there is a set age. Both my husband and I work, so after my maternity leave w/ both my girls, they went into some kind of daycare. It started out at a church daycare, then to friends then to a preschool type daycare and then to a preschool. We moved and they had to stay w/ new people and now they are old enough to stay home.

I hope this helps.
