What about my recent college graduate?

My daughter just graduated and is discouraged about not having a job lined up. She has a part-time position with a non-profit organization. She is concerned that when she has to start paying back her loans, that her pay won't be enough. She is at home, and I just wanted advice on how to encourage her.

Transitions are hard. She may also be a bit stressed, because it's pretty common to start job hunting prior to graduation, and most who do that do have a job ready to move into.

If she didn't start that early enough, it may take a bit. Also, with the economy the way it is, it has been difficult to get into full time, decent paying jobs...LOL...and no one really wants to work at McDonalds when they have a college degree.

If it helps, let her know that others ARE in her situation (I am, for one, and I'm 45, at a change of careers...ugh), but that staying positive and proactive is her best bet.

Thank you so much!!! I think I needed the encouragement too! It is like without concrete results, she just can't phantom it being alright. Transitions are hard at any age,and I just want to support her.

Encourage her to continue searching in her field, and in the meantime, remind her that we all have to do this at some point in our lives.
