My son is 7 years old with ADHD. We have tried soccer and baseball. He likes them but doesn't want to play. He says it's too long till we go home. He would rather play with his trains and cars on the living room floor. What else can we get him involved in?

So, i think we found something that is working. Bowling! i know, strange huh. One day he came home with a flyer he got from school about 2 free bowling lessons. He was very excited about it and immediately said "Mom, i want to do this!". We went to the lessons and at the end he quickly said he wanted to do it again. Now he is on a 4 person Bowling team that plays every Saturday. He loves it which makes us very happy.

thank you both for the ideas. My daughter (11yr) does KungFu and loves it. She started when she was 4. It helped her gain focus, control and balance. My son has seen the hard work she puts in to win gold medals in tournament and says that's not for him. We have thought about sports like swimming or golf but skiing, dance and gymnastics sound fun too. Would you say team sports are just out of the question?

My 7 y/o grandson did Karate, too. He loved it, helped him focus and released a lot of pent up energy. Any of the martial arts are good for that.Gymnastics is another activity that he enjoys.

my son is the same way where sports are concerned I would see if there is a drop in class for Karate or something of that nature, my son fell in love with dance which is not really surprising as I am a dance instructor he is now 11 and is still dances loves every minute of it. The other sport he has fallen in love with is skiing which is also a great deal of fun. Keep trying you will find something that catches his attention.
