Both of my children had haircuts early too. They had curls and my son's would curl into his ears and annoy him. My daughter's would knot and mat. Many people were negative to the early cuts but I felt it necessary. Do what you need to!

O my gosh! I held out on cutting my son's hair! He's three and has only had three hair cuts! And he definitely has no shortage of hair, but his first haircut was two months before he turned two. He had this adorable curly brown hair and I was afraid his hair wouldn't curl after it got cut. But they did the next time his hair grew out too! Now with my second son he is 15 months old and hasn't got a haircut yet either! He has the same brown curly hair and its just too adorable to cut just yet lol...

It's OK..I haven't found a rule about haircut milestones yet. My son had no hair to cut until he was 2. My daughter, on the other hand, was the talk of the hospital when she came out with jet black troll doll hair that touched his shoulders! It was insane but so cute! She didn't lose her hair, either, but it was so out of control, we had to start haircuts very early just to try and find a style or shape that might give it some control. I think she got her first haircut which was actually cut into a blunt bob at 5 months!! How crazy to have a style that young! The hairstylist couldnt believe her hair for her young age and was a bit taken back. My precious sweety is 9 yrs old now and has the perfect ultra-thick shiny dark brown hair that holds any style and looks good any way she wears it. She has had multiple haircuts and styles, some which were very short Dora the Explorere blunt bobs. However, it grows so fast, she has also managed to grow it longer past her shoulders 3 times since birth. including time to have grown it past her shoulders 3 times since birth and is currently on her 4th go-around of growing it "long" after having a shaggy bob for a few months. I'm so envious, even as her mom! I tell her all the time that she sure has pleasantly surprised us because we had no hope for that hair other than trying to start a trend called the "Troll Doll-Shake and Style Version"...;-)Thank God, it never came to that. So, I say, when it needs cut, cut it. I will grow and though many like to give advice, you're the one who has to look at it and comb it until he is old enough. So, those extended family members who try to lay a gulit trip on you for cutting those "long precious locks", remind them that he is a BOY and those locks will be long and precious in a ziplock baggie which they are welcome to and your son can also have a real boy haircut. It's a win-win for everyone. Good luck and just use those good mommy instincts to do what you gotta do. Graciously, tune everyone else if you encounter any resistance. :-)

My son had his first haircut last weekend. He is 15 months old and it was long overdue but I just couldn't part with his beautiful curls until now! He did SO well. I was shocked. Part of the reason I waited so long was that I was sure my son who constantly has ants in his pants would freak out if he had to sit still long enough to get his haircut.

My son's hair took awhile to grow in, but we kept the forehead, above the ears and the back of the neck trimmed, starting at about 4 months. His first real cut was at 1 year, and at 16.5 months, it is time again!!! Before having a child I never understood boys with long and curly hair ("Girly Hair"!!)....then I had a son who was blessed with georgeous blond, curly locks and I understand!!! Surprisingly, my husband likes the curly locks too!! I tend to cut it now when it gets bushy and unmanageable!!!
My daughter is 22 months and we still haven't cut her hair.....my MIL is a stylist and she's itchin to do it but I don't want to until it's all completely past her shoulders....her hair is quite long but it's still pretty fine and whispy....it's just now starting to come in nice and think underneath and up front....can't wait!

We buzzed my son's hair at four months :) Got rid of all the baby hair and it came back so nice and thick. My husband and I have decided to do it with all our kids even our girls. When they are babies people expect them to be bald. I loved how nicely my son's hair grew in after we buzzed it :)

Our son got his first hair cut when he was 14 months old. He had beautiful curly hair that I just could not cut but then finally gave in. I still let it grow out pretty long in between cuts because it still curls when it gets long. I love it! :)

I waited as long as I could. He was about a year and a half. He had beautiful curly hair that I just hated to get cut. My husband actually made me get it done :( If I had it my way we would of left those gorgeous curls. Hopefully I have a daughter someday that can have them!
My daughter had her hair cut at 5 months. It was just long and stringy on top, bald in back, and a little mullet below the bald spot. Not cute at all, so I cut it. Now I've just been trimming her bangs when they are getting in her eyes and letting the back grow.

Neither of my kids had much hair to speak of until well past 2 yrs. My son is 8 now and has extremely thick hair. My girl is 3, has very fine hair, and still no cut. But that's not by my choice, her father wants it to be "special" and we aren't together. And he likes her hair really long (but lets it rat nest with him....)

My daughter was born with alot of hair, so if she was a boy I would of had her hair cut at an earlier age. But she had her first trim at 7 months old I cut her bangs, and at 11 months old I got her hair cut because it was starting to get kind of thin and stringy in the back. I know some girls don't get a haircut unitl they are 2 or 3 years old or sometimes older, she is almost 4 and she has already had probably 5 hair cuts.
