What are actual signs of baby being ready for solids?

I mean I heard and read a lot but what does it really mean "they do not seem to be satisfied with milk anymore"? Do they drink huge quantities? Or small but very often? Or do they fuss on the bottle? My lil one is 3 months old now and has been interested in us eating for a while - a friend of mine said to wait until he is 4 months old but recently he is driving me crazy with his eating. He used to drink around 90 ml every 3 hrs during the day. Now he eats anything between 30-110 ml but every 1.5-2 hrs during the day. Very "happy" to be awaken at 6 am for him to eat 40-50ml... and then at 8 am he gets me again. And again. An again. And again!

Problem is he doesn't eat more than he wants to, if somehow I am able to get him to eat extra 10 ml he will spill it 5-10 mins later... I make big bottles but he rarely eats a lot, at night he is all right he usually eats the whole lot or almost. During a day it is a nightmare.

From what I've read babies don't need even baby cereal until they are at least 6 months old. He's probably just growing and needs a bigger bottle. Try asking your doctor about it.
