What are fun learning things to do with a 21 month old that aren't real expensive?

I'm a stay at home mom with a bored little girl. I don't have any friends to do play date with. I'm just wondering what are some things I can do with her that are fun and will teach her at the same time.

My daughter is 22 months and I get her to help me a lot. I give her plastic dishes at the sink and let her wash them while I am cleaning the kitchen, she helps me wipe down benches, she hands me the washing to put on the line and she has her own pretend vacuum which she uses when I vacuum the house. She also enjoys helping me cook, loves to stir things and tip ingredients into a bowl. We also make playdough a lot. Yes my house work takes twice as long but she loves helping so much and it keeps her occupied.

As far as teaching, we draw a lot, talk about colours, shapes and numbers, read stories, go for walks, thread pasta onto string, bath her dolls, dance, cut out pictures from magazines, make cubby houses, water play, build with blocks, blow up balloons and chase them.

when my kids were little we would take walks, go to the park, lay down in the yard and look at the clouds and see what we could pretend they were. One thing my kids loved to do was play with cheap shaving cream at the kitchen table. I would spray it on the table and they could make shapes, numbers or even paint their body with it.( you can use whip cream if you are worried she might eat it) I they only have a diaper or underpants on all you have to do is put them in the shower and rinse them off. I hope this helps you

Try looking for story hour at your local library for toddlers, otherwise barnes n noble usually does one too.
