I love Ayries, Apollo, Orion, Justus, Seth, Noah. I was going to name my son Seth, but my mom could not pronounce it right so I decided to change it, I didn't want her calling her grandson Seff, I never thought the -th would be such an issue. I named my son Noah Tyler.

We have 4 Boys. Nathan (Gift from God) quite unusual in Ireland 13 years ago not so uncommon now!!! Tristan (i dont know of another one) although it is a well known one. Logan (hugely uncommon here) we call him Logi Bear!!! And Xylan is the baby (pronounced Zylan) My son is the only one in the world as far as i know as i made it up myself and comes from arabic. Nobody liked it in the beginning but thay got used to it and having carried these babies for nine months i think its well deserved for me to name them.

My little boy's called HARRIS (it's an island in the outer hebrides of Scotland) - next to Lewis!

Names can differ so much by region but I think Sawyer is a great name and not very common. And for a girl I like Carli. It doesn't seem overused. My boys are Seth Hutton and Caleb Fisher.

My daughter named her sons "Orion Scott" and "Dillon James" both have first names that are a bit different with middle names that are more common.

I agree that looking at the family tree is a good idea.  My son's name is Indy, short for the word independent.  I wanted Aristotle and would have called him Ari, but I am happy with Indy. :)

It is tough being different and not too wierd.  He was 2 days old before he had a name.  Give it time, it will come and you will know.

Quoting Anne:

Tobin, Tabor, Troyer, Teagan

Our daughter is called Tegan which is sometimes spelt Teagan.  It's a welsh girls name meaning 'beautiful'.

We called our son Zeke, which is classically short for Ezekiel but we really don't like bible names as we don't agree with the religion thing.  However, we'be given him the middle name of 'Andrew' in case he finds it a little too 'off-the-wall' later in life and wants to use a more normal name :)

My 2nd lad, we called him Blaine, scottish name, kind of runs in family etc.... not too wierd or different and certainly not commen xx

we looked for different names when my son was born 3 years ago and settled on Rigel (pronounced Ry-gel) it turned out to be one of the best things we could have done, there will be no other child with the same name as him in his class in school....but it isn't so far out there that people can't pronounce it! almost everyone we have run across says "that is different, but its cute"

our little boy is Rolan....we haven't come across another one yet! We named him after my husbands late father, but spelt it without the "d" on the end, to be different. His full name is Rolan James Humphrey Hilderbrandt, i don't think there would be another. Good Luck!!!

Hi, I turned my husbands middle name (Leon) around to name our son... but because it is more common for a girl's name..(Noelle) I made sure he had a very strong masculine name....His name is Noel Douglas. Hope you find one that you like, good luck,

I took the first letter of the middle names of dad, grandpa, and great grandpa's to come up with Jarad. He will always have a part of all of them with him no matter what. I would have done that if he would have been a girl for the name also, but with the mom, grandma, and great grandma's.

My friend who is very religious choose LEVI, biblical, uncommon (in AUS anyway) and not tooo out there for the kid when he starts school. I believe this must be a consideration. Do you want you boy to have to repeat and spell his name for the rest of his life?
