What are some tips for getting pregnant?

Hi Ladies,

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant since right around the time my son turned 1 (he is now 21 months old). We did get pregnant once, but I had a miscarriage at about 6 weeks. Since we have been trying again- about 3 months now-nada! Any suggestions?

I agree with everybody here. One suggestion don't stress too much. Have fun and enjoy sex it will happen sooner.

I don't want to sound too hippie about it, but I went and saw an acupuncturist (who is also a good friend). She mastered in Chinese Medicine with an emphasis on Fertility and Women's Health, so I figured I'd go for it when my husband and I were trying to get pregnant.

It was beyond just the acupuncture too though. We always sat and talked about my diet and exercise to make sure I was always taking care of myself. Doesn't hurt to give it a try! Hopefully you don't have issues with needles. :)

My first pregnancy I conceived at the very first attempt. After I stopped breastfeeding and started getting my period, I began to keep track of my cycles which were all over the place. I tried for three months to get pregnant, using the standard, ovulation occurs 14 days after the first day of your last period. I decided to stop relying on this type of calendar and simply listen to my body. I was not ovulating at that point in my cycle (which happens to be a comon thing), so the following month, I gauged when I was ovulating based on my secretions and symptoms and conceived right away. Good luck.

I also used the site Taking Charge of Your Fertility, it was super helpful I was pregnant pretty quick after figuring it all out.

Keep track of your cycle and just keep having sex. ;)

Sorry. I know the frustration. I got pregnant the first time the very first month we started trying, but from the last day I had any birth control until the birth of my son was almost 3 years.... w/ 2 early miscarriages.

Hang in there!

I found that the web site Taking Charge of Your Fertility really helped me. It's at tcoyf.com. It allows you to enter in your cycles, and track your bodily changes during the month, and notes the days in which you're most likely to be fertile. Have you also tried ovulation predictor kits? They're pricey, but might help.

If you have a normal 28 -30 day cycle, try 14 days AFTER the FIRST day of your last period for 3-4 days. IF one yr passes with no luck go see a fertility specialist (1 yr of trying that is).
