What are some ways to break a habit of your 3yr old coming into your bed in the middle of the night?

The last few weeks have been hard nights. My 3yr old is coming into our room and wanting to sleep in our bed. I wouldn't mind so much but she kicks and keeps us up all night. I'm looking for some ideas on how other parents have dealt with this frustration. Mommy and Daddy need to sleep too.

I started offering my daughter "surprises" for staying in her bed. They included things like a few stickers, a mini playdoh, a fancy cookie (all under $1). After a few weeks, she stayed in her own bed all night 1..2..3..4 times, I got her a new book :) She's been good ever since!

My 19 months old has never slept and would always get in our bed, our last resort ( but it's working ) is we bought a baby gate for her door, now she wakes and crys, we go to her and put her back in her bed. In the morning we open her gate and say good morning to let her know it's morning and under circumstance is she to get in our bed. We have been doing this for two weeks and so far so good, she's going to bed, and going back to bed easier and easier and even the other night she slept through we had to wake her up in the morning.
