What are some ways to speed up labor?

I have tried sex, walking, spicy food, raspberry tea, warm baths, walking steps, and nipple stimulation (most likely did not do that right because I hate touching my nipples or having them touched. I went to the dr today and he said that I should try to get labor started on my own. I am 39 weeks and 4 days, I go back monday for nst then they said they are going to induce on tuesday. I really do not want to be induced but from the looks of it I am going to have to suck it up and deal with it. A week ago I was nearly 3 centimeters (he did not do a pelvic exam at today's visit.) I am so tired of being pregnant and I do not know what else to do. Dr said sex but when your guy works all night and sleeps all day that is hard to do. Please any advice would be very helpful! thank you!

You are still to soon to consider being induced. YOu can have the doctor sweep your membranes (a bit uncomfortable) and will only work if your body is ready for labor. You can also masturbate if sex is not happening. The orgasm can help simulate contractions, there for stimulate contractions. The sperm (if having sex) helps soften the cervix and helps dilate it.

If all the things you are trying are not working, that means your body is just not quite ready for labor. There is no magic jump start. Keep walking. Keep drinking water and raspberry leaf tea. Just keep trying, and when your body is ready, labor will start. If your body is not ready, nothing will happen. You cannot force labor. Good luck.
