What are the differences between a girl friend and a wife or a boy friend and a husband

Wife and husbands have gotten together before a judge or minister and exchanged vows or made some sort of commitment and its also a legal contract. They have a lot of benefits that BF and GF do not have such as being able to have insurance on each other, having legal say in all matters of each other if its set up just right, when elderly have SS benefits from each other....etc....BF and GF do not have that.

A legally binding contract. Even then, it's negotiable. I know many people who have created families without marriage and they're very committed to each other. One couple I know have been together, unmarried, more than 20 years and have four daughters.

A wife and a husband make a commitment to each other.....a girlfriend and boyfriend/fiance are dating.
Been married for 15 1/2 years and would not trade it for anything. I love being married. I love knowing that my husband and I can have a disagreement or be frustrated with each other and that I don't have to worry about him leaving. I know that during those times we will work it out. I love not having to worry about all the things a girlfriend worries about when she is dating. I love the stability that marriage brings. I also love the fact that every morning I know I get to wake up next to someone that loves me more that day then he did the day before and vise versa. I love the fact that I can call my boyfriend my husband and that he can call his girlfriend his wife. I love the fact that one day we might be celebrating our 65th wedding anniversary with our children/grandchildren/and great grandchildren. I love the fact that I get to wear a ring on my finger that represents the commitment/love/and promise we made to each other and to God.
