We have an 8 week old granddaughter living with us. She is constipated frequently recently and her doctor says there is nothing to do for her but move her legs in a bicycle motion. This doesn't sound like the right answer. Do any of you have a remedy that you use.

Offering her water is your best bet. Be VERY careful not to give her too much, though. At this age you really don't want to get in the habit of giving her enemas or anything with a laxative property as she can become dependent on them. It sounds like hydration is what she needs.

She is formula fed now, just went off the breast milk completely this week, so that might be the reason. But she had formula since she was born as supplement. Her stool was dry and hard and she screamed in pain. Her Aunt suggested giving her some water since she is now on formula alone, and that has helped and she has had a regular bowel movement today. But she still has pain, but she has been diagnosed with acid reflux. In my day it was called colic.

Is she breastfed or formula fed? When she goes is it dry and hard? Or does she just not poop as frequently?
