What do you think about common hobbies for you and your little ones?

I have a small garden at home, which has helped me raise my daughter more easily. She is always occupied when I am occupied in the garden, and she likes the time spent there with me. Plus my little girl now knows the names of all vegetables and fruits and what is their colour, and she always eats healthy veggies. I'm very proud of her. In future I intend to add another hobby, cooking, to our daily routine, so that she keeps on developing her skills and knowledge. What do you think about my idea? Do you have common hobbies with your children and what are they? How do you keep your little ones busy and how do you spend your time with them?

Wow, you amaze me, girls. I thought I had found something new, but obviously it was only new for me. I was so enthusiastic about my discoveries about parenting that I even wrote a blog post about it. Now I know that everyone does what I do, or that I do what everyone does. And that is amazing.
You can see my post here, btw: http://www.cafemom.com/journals/read.php...

Camping is so much fun!We drive to Italy to camp in summer, our son sleeps like a rock in the the tent:) We cant wait till he is old enough to come fishing with us or come shoot with a compound bow :) When we fish at the beach he comes with cause its not just my hubby and i,but where we go fishing now it would be to dangerous to take him with.Steep muddy hill and no place to play.He is going up in the mountains to play in the snow with my mom and my aunt with her 2year old today,Hubby and i are getting ready to go fishing together...hope a big one bites :)

I didn't consider them 'common hobbies', i considered them 'skills necessary for basic survival'. Gardening, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry. There's never been a time when my kids were NOT helping and learning right alongside of me. As they got older, it evolved from those activities to learning how to play instruments (we all, entire family, learned how to play guitar. We're not GOOD, by any means...LOL...but we had fun), puzzling, crafting, camping, shooting...

In other words, what one does in our home, we all participate in, in that regard

Just about everything I do around the house, I have one or more of the kids around me :)
They LOVE cooking and baking, helping me with the laundry or loading/unloading the dishwasher. If we were able to (we rent), we would also be gardening and I definitely intend to start as soon as the opportunity arises.
I think it's GREAT to involve kids in everyday household stuff. It teaches them important life skills.

Garden is great,we also do garden when the weather is nice. Now in winter my son has started to LOVE baking...he wants to bake everyday. So we are baking cupcakes, bread and biscuits. He also likes cooking so we started to cook together. We also paint/draw alot. I spend my time with him doing those stuff, but also playing with play dough, making puzzles, cleaning and feeding our water turtle, playing with cars, dance to music, build towers with blocks, play hide and seek or go for walks to the playground.Thats some of the stuff we do during the day,but he also helps me with keeping the place tidy.He "dusts" and helps me with the washing, like putting the clothes into the machine or taking them out and hand them to me so i can hang them up.So basicly we are always busy doing something..oh and forgot to mention reading and looking at books:)
