You need to think of how it sounds with the full first middle and last names. You also need to be aware what it might be like for this child growing up. I have seen a lot of names lately that celebs have chose for their kids: Apple (really?), names of animals, names of directions as in (North West, Kim Kardasians baby), newly spelled versions of names and all other variations. If you want a true unique name my suggestion is look in your family and see if there is an older name that has not been used such as great grandparents if you know who they are....my son who is now nearly 18 loves his great grandfather's name of Simeon which is used in his name and it is the French spelling of Simon. Its an old family name. It is up to you though.

The first thing I think of is the first book in the bible. If I think some more, then I think of Phil Collins and his band named Genesis. I think it is a ridiculous name for a person and as far as nicknames go, I can come up with is Genny (Jenny) or Nessy, which is also the nickname for Edward and Bella's baby in the Twilight Saga. Obviously, you could just shorten to Gene.
But, that's just my 2 cents and it's probably not even worth that.

Genesis is a beautiful name, with it's origin meaning "beginning" it makes it a very unique and symbolically powerful name. My name is also Genesis and I have received many compliments of it. I thank my parents for giving me such a beautiful name.

it's different!I looked up the meaning & it says origin creation or beginning;idk I was thinking genie if it's a girl?I gave my baby 3 names which r traeh (heart spelled backwards) jakob which is a family name & ash.tht way I figure he can go by whichever he wants whn he's of age;I guess I'm so guilty of picking different sounding names but I think if u give lots of names it's better tht way

I don't particularly care for it, but I've never been one for 'unusual' names. People ask me all the time is my daughter's name Sadie is short for Mercedes. NO! Some people have gotten so out there with their baby naming, that all you'd have to do is pick a name like Jennifer, Julie or Katie and NOT spell if Jennihfur, Joolye or Kay-tee to really stand out from the crowd! lol.
I'm with Evelyn, just look back a few years to find great names...like Sadie! Spelled just the way it should be. :)
P.S. Nessy immediately brought to mind the Loch Ness Monster.
