What do you think of the government taking your child's lunch then charging you for a school lunch?

Read the following news link. Our home-made lunches are being inspected and what thrown away? Why bother buying food at all? If the government wants us to eat a certain way, then they can buy my food and have a chef come in and fix every meal.

So really, your post title is doubly incorrect. The government did not take the child's lunch, and they did not charge the mother for the additional food.

Actually, under some investigation, that's not actually what happened. The child's lunch was not thrown away.

Basically, this child's tuition is fully subsidized by the state, and her mother opted into a program that offers additional food to supplement what is brought from home.

The mother apparently now objects to this option being provided to her daughter, not because of any health concerns or the like, but because she incorrectly believes that she will be charged additional money for her child being provided this option.

The child's lunch was NOT thrown away. She was simply offered additional food.

Here is a story that gives more details: http://www.nccivitas.org/2012/state-insp...
