what does everyone think of Julia Gillards decision to make teenage mums finish high school?

i think its a great idea!! i wish i was could get it! im about to return to full time study and its going to cost me around $300 a week just to have my 2 boys in daycare i dont receive centerlink and i wont be able to work because of the hours ill be studying. also because of the hours my partner works he wont be able to help at all with childcare. so not really sure how im going to be paying at the moment lol hopefully it will work out. but i wish they had this around when i had my first son i was 18 and hadn't finished school.. things would be allot easier now if i had had that push in the right direction.

I support it completely. They will never get another opportunity to utilise the fully-funded daycare, and it will drastically increase their chances of securing full-time employment as their children grow up.

I think it is a good idea. They are not expecting them to go back and finish until the baby is 12 months old, and they are preared to fully fund the daycare. So yes, I am supportive of the initative. If you read the articles, of the 11,000 teenagers currently on parenting payments, only something like 20% of them have finished school, and only 8% have a job. This is incredibly sad, and contributes to the cycle of poverty. By giving these mums a push to go back to school or get some work experience, it is a long term beenfit to both the child and the mother.

It's a great idea in my opinion , I cant see what would be bad about establishing a future for themselves and their family there is a lot more opportunity with an education .
