My baby girl is 11 weeks old. Two days ago she started sleeping the whole night. She falls sleep around 9.30pm and doesn't wake up until 6am or later. My husband was so worried that she may be sick that he calls the nurse (babyline) and the nurse said that a baby so young shouldn't sleep more than 5 hours at night w/o feeding. My phylosophy is completely different to hers. I think if the baby is sleeping, her cycle says that she needs sleep, otherwise she would be crying. Another thing is that in the two ocasions she has slept that long, she wets her diapers before falling sleep, I change her, but she doesn't wet her diapers again until she is completely awake. I checked this because the typical question from the nurse was about wet diapers.
The issue is that my husband wants to follow the nurse instructions until we see our pediatritian. I feel that if we wake her up, we are going to create a pattern, and if we try to go back to her previous sleep pattern we are going to have the problems we don't have right now: "how to help your baby to sleep through the night"....
