What due date do I go by?

The doctor says I'm 31w5d, putting my due date at January 25. Since my first tri-mester I felt farther along than I was supposed to be. Felt her kick sooner than was expected and so on. The due date didn't match my last period either, which was around the April 1. I ended up in the hospital because of contractions a couple weeks ago. It wasn't Braxton Hicks because they were painful and were getting closer together and worse, but I wasnt in labor. When I got home I knew I had to be farther along. When I looked on the first 2 sonograms, my due date was January 6. But after the first 2, he moved it back to January 25. What due date do I go by?

Go by the first one. The one taken at the earliest gestational age is usually the most accurate. That's what I was told by my doctor, midwife, and by the multiple sonogram technicians I've chatted with during my last 2 pregnancies :P

I was also told that, no matter what, you've still got about a 3 week window on either side of the due date in which you can go into labor, so even the best guess is still just an educated guess :P

Thank you! I heard that you should go by the first sonograms due dates, but I wanted to hear other opinions. I don't know why he moved the due date back, and I feel somewhat foolish for not noticing the due dates on the sonograms changed.
