Sweet potatoes were a hit as a first food here. We did give her rice cereal first (for about a week) and introduced veggies after that. Cereal isn't necessary, though.

First foods aren't for nutrition and it's best to start with savoury like potato, carrot, rice cereal etc.

You also want your child to have stopped the tongue thrusting reflex. This is where they push their tongue out when anything is in their mouth instead of swallowing it. If they are still thrusting then they aren't ready.

i suggest :4month baby should be on breastmilk more. when doc has said so then its fine. i strted food for my baby at 5month continuing breast milk. more the babies are on breast milk more they are disease free. and i strted him with cerelac rice (never give wheat in the beginnig as some kids are allergic to it)

then i also gave him potatao mash/puree and pumpkin mash/puree .( wash properly, peel ,cut, and steam in cooker then mash it or make puree)

hope i cud help u :)
