I liked (well, my son liked) the Nubby brand sippy cups. They have soft silicone spouts rather than hard plastic ones, so it made the transition from bottles a little easier. Once he had a lot of teeth, though, they didn't really hold up to his chewing and we had to switch to plastic ones.

My daughter loved the born free sippies, she was off the bottle and on them at 6 months. Now at 13 months we just had to change the spout to the toddler nipple. My now four year old was all about the Nuby sippies. I guess it just depends on what you are looking for.

Both my boys started at 7 months and we started with the Playtex soft spout. Especially when they were teething this type of spout was comfortable for them.

The Nuby ones that are like a bottle but have a soft spout instead of a teat and no measurements are good.

Well, if your kids are interested in cups, it's easier to use a sippy than a regular cup, mainly for the avoidance of the mess. Why NOT at 7 months? It's a sensory thing, too.

Oh, and they last FOREVER!! They come in handy if older kids get the flu, or a stomach bug...easier than trying to make sure they sip fluids. Actually, my kids are now 13 and 16, and I JUST threw out the last sippy cup...LOL...Ok, so it had been hiding for a few years, but still...

When mine were that age, I liked the ones with the internal valve...no spillage that way. The action is kind of like sucking on a straw, I think the ones I used were made by Playtex
