I am currently having an issue with my 19 month old son. He goes everyday but it is hard as a rock! Past two days it took him over an hour to go...and he we crying in pain! What do you think could help him. He is a picky eater but loves fruits..so needless to say we have tried all the fruits listed above. Nothing seems to work and just makes him gasy.

Water in which you boiled for 15 minutes some oatmeal, leave it with the oatmeal until it gets cool enough and use just the water. I was using this instead of water for 3 months, when my daughter was 4 months old. If that does not help try some beetroot (some fresh juice from it), it is very powerful, so be careful with the dose and don't be afraid if you notice that the urine is pink, that is from the beetroot

lots of water... they even have a formula that i had to use once for my infant, she got constipated alot... i rember her no older than 3 month old, when i raised her legs to wipe her but it was like a playdoh machine, her poop came out in the consistency of playdoh, which is not normal for an infant.

Have you tried Lax-a-day? Its a polyethylene glycol powder with no taste at all. We had the same problem, and our PED told us to try that. Our daughter is now 19mo and still has to have 1/2 a teaspoon in her milk every other day to keep her regular and soft. We started this when she was 9 mo old
Lots of water helps my son when he gets stopped up. And on the days when he won't drink water by itself, I put a splash of juice (apple, grape, whatever we have) to get him to drink it. I also like to keep white grape juice on hand. Our nutritionist said it's great for digestive issues. Good luck!
Edited to add: I also just wanted to mention that you don't want to overload on straight juice because sometimes it can take a few days to work itself out and then if you've given too much juice you'll have the opposite problem.
