What is normal size of erection for a 7 month old?

I'm asking this for a friend:

"I've noticed my 7 month old getting erections, and they seem to be much larger than I thought it should be; several times the size it is when it's soft. It doesn't seem to hurt him, but when he's aroused, it seems out of proportion for his body. I know this is an awkward question, but I haven't got the nerve up to ask his doctor. He's circumcised, so it's not swollen foreskin. It just gets really big for long periods of time."

Note: I saw what she's referring to, and I agree that it looks extra large for his size. Any input?

I wondered the same thing at one point when my son was very small. I was new to the mothering game and had no idea what "normal" was. I asked his pediatrician about it and he gave me pretty much the same answer as Krista E. Men come in all shapes and sizes, and it makes sense that since they all start out as babies, that babies will all be different shapes and sizes as well. Not a strange question at all, just not one that many women will admit to having asked themselves because of the stigma.

Yep, it's normal. Just as in the adult male, the size can vary pretty wildly between aroused and flaccid. Some men only grow an inch or two when erect, others practically double in size. If it's not hurting him or is otherwise problematic, then I really wouldn't worry about it.

This is normal it's the same as men their penises can be very small and then when erect they are large.

Dear Alicia

some boys are simply small, some can be very large..and all have erections at all ages..this is all natural..this is just the innate nature of all boys,.and referencing what you asked about sizes and ages, and circumcision it varies greatly....my twin 7 yr and my 11yr old boys (also circumcised as your child) happen to be of the very large ,but this size thing makes no difference to we moms,...... but to those boys who are, larger, this should not be shocking ...just blame that on nature. The main thing is to make them feel that they are ok,and accepted in all ways..and to never ever feel ashamed..

Last i checked there is no normal, not even for men. It is completly normal for baby boys to get erections though.

Size doesn't matter, it's just normal to get an erection at that age. If she wants she can always google it.
