In regards to being a parent, what is the one piece of wisdom or advice that you know now that you wish you had known before having a child?
The one thing that I know now I wish I had known then is that your child will not die if they consume a little bit of dirt lol. Let me clarify: When i had my first child, my son, I drove myself CRAZY sanitizing and sterilizing and disinfecting EVERYTHING. If his soother so much as touched another surface, back in the boiling water it went. I was also very anal about people holding him and did not let many people hold him out of fear of him getting sick or germs. I wish i had known that it is okay to allow your baby to be held, it is okay if the soother falls to rinse it off, it is okay to NOT scrub down every surface they touch. I have actually been told it is good for children to be exposed to everyday germs and virus's to allow their immune system to build up and do its job. Anyways, lets just say with my second child i am wayyyyy more lenient in the germ department. Honestly, i have probably horrified a few new moms when my daughter drops the soother at the park and i pop it back in her mouth lol. Hell, she has even eaten dirt straight-up!! So if i had known then that dirt will not cause my child to cause deathly ill i could have spent a LOT less time sterilizing things and a lot more time bonding and simply enjoying him while he was little (He is in Kindergarten now!!).
