what's the rule with having a drink while breastfeeding

The rule of drinking while breastfeeding, is essentially the same rule as alcohol in your bloodstream. For every 1 drink you have, it takes 1 hour (typically) to leave your blood stream AND your breast milk. So if you want to have a beer, wait until bub is asleep and you know you will not have to bf for an hour. I would avoid hard liquor. Also, if you want a beer to help increase your bm, try Guiness. Works awesome. Also, there is NO need to pump and dump....say you have a beer and 10 minutes later you pump and dump. Your bm will still fill up with beer tainted milk until it just naturally leaves your system. Don't waste breastmilk.
