what should i do about my sons big cut on his pinky toe

my son isaac was playing outside and he was trying to open the door to come back in the house but instead of him opening the door he pulled out the jelecy from the window and it fell on his pinky toe and left a big cut i dont know if i should take him to the ER to have it stiched or just let it heel on its own i have been putting antibiotic medicine on his cut and wrap it with gauze

a cut deeper than 1/4 of an inch or you can see yellow fatty tissue (or bone) needs to be stitched.

If the wound almost self closes the skin together (or can be held together easily with a bandage) and can start to scab within a few hours is fine

If it's in a location that would reopen easily such as fingers ( i don't know where it is on his toe, the tip of the toe wouldn't reopen like the joint of the toe to the foot) it might need to be stitched.

I know these don't apply probably right now but other reasons to take in.

If he's not up to date with tetanus shot
Animal bites
Debris in the wound that you can not remove or clean properly
uncontrolled bleeding
