Hello moms!! :)

My BEAUTIFUL lil girl just turned 9 months old today!! :) I am wonderin what types of things she should be eating now?? I have my mom CONTSTANTLY trying to give her all types of things that I DONT think she should have yet..... peanutbutter toast, bagels, eggs...... The list could go on, and On!! I am wondering what she should be having during her meals?? Do I still give her jared foods, or should she be on complete finger foods??? Should I continue to spoon feed her, or she I start letting her feed herself?? I am COMPLETLY lost here.... ANY advice would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks in advance!! :)

She should definitely not have peanut butter! But other stuff is fine. My son is 10 months old and I give him basically anything I can mash up with my tongue: scrambled eggs, bread, rice, pasta, chicken, pancakes, beans. If I can't mash it up with my tongue and swallow it without chewing I don't give it to him. He also eats the Gerber 3rd foods in the jar. At 9 months she should have the concept of chewing and can have small pieces (no bigger than the tip of her pinkie) of really soft foods, like cooked veggies and pasta and stuff like that. My son loves the Gerber Graduates Puffs.

My son works with a food person specialist - this is what they told us.

1.) completely soft foods (purees, stage 1) 2. chunkier foods (stage 2) 3. things to chew on like carrot stick (with supervision) 4. easy to melt stuff (gerber puffs, teething biscuits) 5. soft cubes (avacado, cooked squashes, broiled potatoes, banana) 6. soft real food one ingredient (bread, small pasta, cubed deli meat, scrambled eggs) 7. mixed soft real food 8. harder food (cheerios, crackers)

Peanut butter is higher allergenic and should wait until baby is 2 or 3 whatever your doc says. Egg yolks are okay after 9 months, wait until 1 year for egg whites. Some babies need to wait until 1 year for wheat. Wait until after a year for acidic foods like tomato, orange. Wait until after a year for strawberries.

Check sites like Gerber & Beech Nut for suggested menus.

Hope that helps.

Quoting Tasha: cheerios, cold sliced up long way,  sliced up apples the long way, soft foods that also stimulate her gums for teethin purposes, lil wieners in a jar found in baby isle, that isle can also give you ideas. Good luck.

hi tasha my little girl just turned nine months as well and she eats anything. eggs, toast, cottage pie, fish, the list goes on, as long as theres not to much salt in her foods, or shell fish she will be fine, iv took her off the jars now, and shes starting to feed herself more, i think its totally up to you as a parent what tou give your little sweety, iv got 2 other children who eat the same when they were babbies and they have grown up to be well healthy children, hope that helps x

My baby girl is almost 10 months and she eats everything we do...She will not eat jarred baby food anymore..Toast and eggs for breakfast, something pasta and fruits for lunch, meats, veggies and potatoes for supper..Not always it does vary...She absolutly loves chicken. She only has four front teeth but has no problem eating anything..For snacks she loves cheerios, corn twist, soft cheesies and the graduates for toddlers...We do not give her peanutbutter, seafood or very acidic foods..

Nicole is SO right. My daughter eats all the Gerber graduates meals and snacks. They're really helpful when it comes to explaining the different stages.

Hi Tasha

u can still give her arred foods. they r great because they don't have a lot of preservatives or sugars. some finger foods are good too. mashed veggies and fruits are ideal. be careful though with things like peanut butter and seafood because those are things people can be easily allergic to. But at her age u should be perfectly fine introducing table foods to her. just do it slowly and choose different varieties. this will help her to not become a picky eater. I hope that helped u! Good luck :)
