What should my daughter call my boyfriend?

My husband was in the Air Force and was killed when I was 6 months pregnant with our daughter. My daughter therefore has never met her father but I try and talk about him and have his things around the house so she knows who he is. Almost two years ago (when my daughter was 2), I met a man and we have been in a serious relationships since then. He obviously has been like a father to my daughter and recently my daughter called him daddy. We explained to her that she needed to call him by his first name. However my boyfriend and I have been discussing it and he would love it if she called him daddy. We definitely are going to get married on day but I don't want him to adopt her because I feel that eliminates the existence of my first husband. I would like some responses to whether you think it is okay if my daughter calls him daddy after we get married or if she should still call him by his first name so her father's memory is always remembered

I would wait until after you are married. I think it is fine after that. He would be her step father, so she can certainly address him as such when it is time. Adopting your daughter would not be eliminating the existence of her bio dad.
