I'm slightly confused on how to make snack and meal times safe and fun. I don't have any friends or family around and I can't bounce ideas on other new moms around me, so all of my 'know how' comes from reading online... my 9 (almost 10) month old baby bear seems pretty open to trying new things. FOR EXAMPLE: I offered her cucumber once. I peeled it, left the guts in, and cut it into 2 inch lengths. Like fries. She gummed pieces off and I thought she would choke so I pulled the pieces out. The next time I offered cucumber, I cut about 1/2 inch rounds and she jammed the whole thing in her mouth! Again, I pulled them out. I've cubed cucumber, but they're slippery and maybe one chunk will make it in her mouth. Bottom line, I'm not comfortable with my understanding of appropriate finger food sizes and I wish there was a chart with pictures. Anyone struggle with this? I'm tired of hearing "pea sized". I know for her to gain confidence, she needs to keep practicing, but not everything has to be pea sized. What about knawing on pickles? How would I prepare those? ? Melon?
