AHHHHH!! DO NOT USE THE ADULT'S VICK'S ON BABY'S FEET!!!!! It has a chemical called camphor in it and it can cause seizures in kids!! Use the BabyRub instead... it doesn't have camphor in it. Chestal's Honey Cough Remedy is a great natural cough syrup. We gave it to my 19 month old a couple weeks ago and his cough went away so fast! You give it every two hours and it just tastes like honey and is completely safe. Also, a humidifier is a great help! Winter air can get so dry!

Our son used to cough a lot at night also, sometimes it would get so bad he would throw up. We finally found out that he has asthma. He is three now and now that he is on his asthma medication he no longer coughs at night. We all get a good nights sleep. I would talk to your doctor about it, it's worth investigating. Also, I used to give him a spoonful of honey before he went to bed and that seemed to work the best. Sometimes I would mix honey in a cup of tea for him and he liked that also.

Excellent - thanks all. I will call the doctor and see if he should be seen. Since he had tubs in his ears, he rarely gets sick anymore, but when he does it always ends up in a cough. He is not a very good nose blower yet, so I think the stuff just drains and drains.

i totally agree with Pam - the vicks vapor rub and a teaspoon of honey. some times i just put a glass of boiling water (at a safe distance) with a few drops of peppermint in it - this only works for a few minutes as the water cools but it clears them out ( so there is no draining)
Hi. My little one (2 yrs.) also occassionally has the night cough, she had tubes put in her ears last winter & has mild allergies. The vapor rub is great, and I also elevate her head with a thin pillow or folded towel- that helped alot along with the humidifier. I will may the honey next time. Hope all goes well for your little one.

when you put vapor rub on the feet it works best when they are sleeping and make sure to try and keep socks on them(I don't know a two year old that does not throw their socks off) it will tend to clear up and sicknesses. Another tip is to elevate their head so it is above their chest. I used to put a pillow or folded blanket under the mattress itself so that way it is still safe for them. The reason it works is because if you look up acupressure you find that each region of the foot is connected to other areas of your body.

Both of my children had breathing issues when they were little. My son had RSV and my daughter pneumonia and brocholitis and now whenever they develop a cough I have to give them 2 puffs of an albuterol inhaler. When a cold first hits and keeps them coughing in the night I go into my daughters room and give her the puffs of the inhaler and sometimes it works throughout the nite. You might want to talk to your doctor about it because it could be respitory irritation and I know my kids' doctor said albuterol won't hurt them but just think of all the irritation is doing to their little airways and its better for them to have the albuterol relax the airways. I hope this helps and if my kids got really bad even during the day the dr would put them on flovent (a steroid) for about a week with the inhaler.

As a previous poster said check with your dr. about asthma. My 3 1/2 old just was diagnosed with it. He takes claritin and flovent inhaler everynight. However, prior to this i always used, actually still do at times, the Pediacare vapor plugs in his rooms. It releases the menthol in the room. It works great. Honey is also good. Good luck.

I will check out the Arbonne product, I buy it for myself and we use all the baby products. Vicks doesn't seem to help and we have been putting it on his feet. He has that really flemmy cough and have been using Vicks and a cold humidifier to no avail. :-(

Herbal vapor rub on her feet with socks on at night and honey orally- works really well. I am an Arbonne consultant and they make an all natural vapor rub i would recommend to you due to the fact that it's all natural and has nothing bad in it. (let me know if you'd like more information on that) but VIck's works also.
