My next door neighbors are a mixed family (three kids from three dads, dad to #3 is married to mom) & the kids are 13 (boy), 8 (girl), and 6(boy). Dad is a cop & former air force. Both parents have what I would call an "aggressive" approach to parenting. But the parents are also aggressive with each other. I am actually not at all comfortable when my kids play with theirs or when they come over to my house. They are usually yelling so loudly from within their own home that I can hear them. They shout things at each other and the kids like "shut the f*ck up", "I'm going to punch you in the face so hard you lose teeth", "If you don't do x,y, or z I'll karate kick you", etc etc. They've also told me (almost bragging or with pride) that they lock the girl in her room or have chased the kids down to beat them with shoes. They have problems at school & get detentions A LOT and I think it's because of how they are treated at home. What can I as a neighbor do for these kids? I feel like child services might be a bit too far, but I do feel that this bullying is a serious problem & will cause even worse issues down the road.
