My 10 year old has a lot of allergies. This has become extremely difficult on the entire family. Since different foods give him different reactions from intestinal to breathing difficulty. He is allergic to turkey, pork, dairy, garlic, lettuce, tomatos, peas. I can no longer make alot of the family favorite dinners and we are all sick of eating chicken and beef. Any suggections?

Is there a dietician associated with his pediatricians office you can speak to? They might offer some great alternatives that you would other wise not have thought of. Good luck, poor kid.

Kelly, thank you for your suggestion. The problem I have ran into with that is being that he is 10 he gets angry because he wants what everyone else has. "It's not fair that everyone gets to eat stuffed shells and I have to eat chicken again."

What about taking some time to prepare meals in portions for him and freezing them and reheating them for some of the meals when you would like to create more of a variety for the rest of the family. Split the meal in half for the week. Make 50% regular meals for the group and he has his own and the other half allergy safe for all. That seems like a safe and reasonable compromise.
