What toys would be good for my advanced 7 month old?

My son is 7 months old, and is crawling perfectly, sitting up independently well, pulling himself up on everything, side walking if he's holding something, and climbing on everything. The doctor even says he's advanced. I wanna know what toys would be good for his development. I want to help him grow intellectually, and challenge him, both physically and intellectually. Yet, I don't want to get him something that's too big for him, or dangerous (i.e http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp... I like this toy, but I feel like he is still too young for it) I need to know what toys would do him good. Thank you :)

Sounds like he's got his large motor skills well under control. What about something for fine motor skills? He might enjoy nesting blocks, or putting handkerchiefs into a jar, etc. That's maybe for a little later, but if he's quickly developing he might like it now already. At that age my son was very into tags. I was sorry to have cut the tags off most of his blankets and toys (in my mind they're ugly and sharp, and why would I want to advertise somebody else's product?) because the ones I had left on were so loved.

I agree, things that crinkle, things that are shiny, things that make a noise when you bang them on something, etc all will interest him. (I found that mostly my son liked things you might find in the kitchen like spoons, mixing bowls, etc... why did I even bother buying toys anyway?)

Welcome to Circle of Moms! Just a little "constructive critcism", if you will. When you use the phrase "advanced" it can be misleading. Babies are going to hit their milestones in a age range. Some babies hit these milesstones earlier than their peers, some are average, and some are on the later end of meeting milestones. Because your 7 month old is meeting milestones that a 9 or 10 month old would, simply means he is meeting his milestones early in the age range/spectrum. Be careful using the phrase 'advanced' as it can be interpreted as being "educationally advanced" or "academically gifted".

With that being said, the toy slide you posted is most definately tcute, but I still say a bit dangerous for 7 months. At 7 months, he cannot balance himself to slide well, and consequently may tumble forward or even off of the slide. You will need to closely monitor this toy, if you purchase it. But the side of it looks fun and engaging. Read the reviews though- more reviews state that it's a toy that the child quickly grows out of. Maybe babies this age are still in the sensory & discovery age. Look for a lot of toys that are thick & chunky shapes, puzzles, squishy items. Water encased toys. Almost anything from Discovery Toys is awesome! Good luck!

My oldest had something 'similar' to that at 8 or 9 months... I think (been a LONG time)... and loved it.

Your son doesn't need any 'special' toys to help him with his development. My son was pretty much where yours is at that age. He just pulled up and climbed on anything he could find in the house. ;)
