Hello all, I have a question in ref to this birth certificate issue im having. I was in an abusive relationship with my unborn childs father and I left him when I was around 2 months pregnant. He was not only mentally and emotionally abusive but sometimes physical as well. He's also threatened to cut my Childs throat (which I have on video on my phone) as well as called my baby a mongrowl a mutt and an abomination. He has called me and my family many racists names as well and the baby racists names too.

I don't want him to be a part of my childs life because im scared for the well being of my baby. He's threatened to take me to court for visitation and has threatened me with lawyers as well (which he doesn't have the money for)

If I don't put him on the birth certificate what rights does he or doesn't he have to my son.

Any help or suggestions are.greatly appreciated

Truthfully, it all depends on where you live. Different states (or countries) have different rules when it comes to father's rights. You need to make sure you document everything, that way if he does take you to court, you will have something to help your case. You might want to contact a lawyer or if you cannot afford a lawyer, contact Legal Aid or your local DHS. They will know more about what you will need to do to protect yourself and your child.

I currently live in Florida lacey. I've documented everything so far. Text messages, fb postings all that. Last night he apparently put up a post about me and now he has people threatening me on his fb. They didn't write it to me personally but its there open to the public.
