Well its a bit complicated,i was born in South Africa (my mom is swiss and dad from SA) and we all moved to Switzerland 13years ago.I have a son that just turned 3 in january :) We live in central Switzerland..but its only a 45min drive to Bern Interlaken. They have beautiful lakes and lots of sight seing to do there..even for the rest of the Swiss. I will send you acouple of nice spots that would be fun to see.And i just read that in kirchenfeld they opened a new kita (playgroup).I am still looking for english moms to get together so the kids can play and we can drink a coffee or tea and chat :)

Trümmelbachfälle,Interlaken, there are so many absolute beautiful places in Bern..you can take hikes in the wonderful mountains or go walk in the city. Where do you come from? If you need any advice about Switzerland just let me know..i live here :)

Dear Gena, I will definitely be visiting Interlaken with the family- perhaps we could meet up when we've settled in. When I visited Bern in December for the weekend (to look for a house and school), I met the guy who owns Baulmers (?) of Interlaken and promised we'd go and visit his resort when we came to live in Switzerland. I have seen that new playgroup mentioned in Kirchenfeld - I will definitely give that a try. If you are ever over in Bern you would be so welcome to come and visit x

Gena - how lovely of you to respond - thank you! I am Scottish but have lived in England for the past twenty years. We will be living in Kirchenfeld, so right in the centre. Need to find things I can do between 8.30am drop off and 3.15pm pick up (at least until my 9 and 6 year old are happy to get to school on their own/I'm happy to let them go to school on their own! :-))

How about you? How old are your kiddies? How long have you been in Bern?

I am off to Google your suggestions x
