My 3mo has been showing little interest in eating and today and yesterday he's gone 7 HOURS without eating! What's wrong?
My son is a healthy little boy. At his last doctors appt he was in the 95th percentile for his height, weight and head circumference. He normally eats 6oz (of expressed breast milk) every 3 to 3.5 hours, he eats 5 to 6 times a day and he sleep through the night (from 9pm to 7am).
These last few days he has showed little interest in eating. He'll play with the nipple with his tongue, push out the bottle with his tongue or turn his head away before finally eating. Recently he's refused the bottle and fussed without taking a drop. Some of his feeding have stretched to 4-5hrs before he finally eats and then yesterday he went 7 HOURS before finally giving in and eating.
I was so worried about him not getting enough to eat that I added 1 tablespoon of rice cereal (for the first time ever) to his dinner bottle (at 6pm) and before bed bottle (at 9pm) which he ate all 6oz of each time and showed no bad reaction to the cereal. But now today, he's refusing to eat once again. I give him milk right after I pump so I thought maybe its something I ate. So I gave him some frozen BM and its the same thing, he doesn't want to eat. I tried burping, changing environments, letting someone else try feeding him and nothing works. He does have wet diapers but they are no where near as full as normal. He is a little more fussy than normal but nothing outragous. I'm really worried.
My mom said he's teeting because he's drooling some and chewing on his hand. But isn't he too young to have teeth?
What should I do?
