Oh, they do have SOME common sense in the teenage years, but really, not a lot in my experience. I mean, I can trust them catching buses, and going to the shops on their own, getting themselves to school, etc, eventually getting behind the wheel of a car, but when they have to make real decisions on their own? Forget it. I'm finding it worse with my son. He's almost 14, and I swear his head is in the clouds the majority of the time. I am his brains at the moment.....:\ I think I spend half my life asking "Did you even THINK about that before you did it????" **sigh**

I know what you mean w/ the MALE. :o) Thank you Jodie for what you said, but I was hopeing that gene would kick in sooner then the teenage years, if it even kicks in at all. :o)

LOL. Well, my 19 year old step-daughter probably started with a bit of common sense just this year actually. It wasn't all that long ago that I 'd see her dressing inappropriately regardless of the fact that she was going to sit and freeze through dinner, as long as she "looked" good and various other really stupid decisions.

But this year she has started at university and works 20 hours a week to help put herself through, and I can see a huge change in her. Is that the sort of thing you mean? I certainly wouldn't be expecting too much overall common sense until after the teenage years.

Now if you'd said male, I'd probably have answered well into his 30s maybe even 40s and sometimes never :P
