When is it ok to give babies peanut butter? My daughter is 2 weeks away from being a year old.

even better than watching them closely...touch the peanut to their skin before you feed it to them...if they are allergic, it should cause a welt.

It is not recommended to introduce any kind of nut until children are 3 yrs old! Even then, touch it to their skin before letting them eat it!! If a reaction occurs, to let them eat it!!

I was told not to give children peanut butter until they were 2 years old. I waited until my oldest was 2 because my mother is allergic to some nuts. But my youngest had peanut butter at around 1.5 years old because he stole it from his brother. We just watched him carefully and he was fine.

i've heard to wait until 2 to be safe, and if there is a history of allergies in the family then wait until 4. i had no problems with it when i gave it to mine at a little earlier than 2, but if you don't feel comfortable then wait. better yet, ask your doctor what he would advise.:)

I spoke to my nusre a few weeks ago and she said that u can introduce them to peanut butter when u start them on solids. She told me that it is ok . i thought u had to wait until there 3 but aperently if u introduce them to it early makes it less likely for allergies. This is what our nurse told me but if u want to be 100 percent sure ask ur nurse or Dr.

I believe that it's recommended to wait until age 2 maybe even 3. Our son is 16 months and has had peanut butter. He had his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich about a week ago. I used a very thin layer of peanut butter and I watched him closely. Our son loved it and did just fine with it. I think that it all depends on the baby; you could also ask your doctor at her next check up. Good luck!

I waited until both of mine were 2 to 2.5 years old and then watched them very closely for any sort of a reaction, as I have allergies. Wait a bit longer if you or their father has a nut allergy. You may want to wait a bit longer if there are any allergies. You will want to apply this to any kind of nut. The doctor will tell you to wait until she is 2 years old.

However, you get to introduce eggs and honey to her now. good luck

I waited until my kids were two years old. I believe that is the recommended age, however these things are always changing.
