When can I see my babies heart beating on scan?

I was told to wait until around 8-10 weeks. Even if you aren't sure of the date you conceived, I probably wouldn't go too early because then you may not be able to see or hear anything and then you will just have to end up going back anyway. If the place you get your ultrasound done is strict, they might say you have to wait until the next one. Where I live they only provide two ultrasounds unless something is wrong; one is at 8-10 weeks and the other is when they are able to tell the gender at 20 weeks.

I had a scan every 2 weeks during the first 12 weeks of four pregnancies and in most cases at 5.5 weeks you can make out the yolk sack with a beat in it. Don't be to upset if you can't see anything at this stage it is very small. It is definitely visible by 6.5 weeks.

Are you talking ultrasound or doppler? By 6 weeks you should be able to see the heart beating on an ultrasound, but won't be able to hear it on the doppler until about 12 weeks (although my dr couldn't find it at 12 weeks and it freaked me out!) Do you have the option of having an ultrasound done that early? I had to wait until 13 weeks with both of my pregnancies.
