When did you put your child..... toddler bed & own room
my sons have all had their own rooms, but i have heard that if you switch from a bassinet to a crib, they should be in their own room. my older son is 22 months and we got him a toddler bed 5 months ago, he loves to sit on it and read books, but no sleep in it. my co-workers have told me that with their children, when they climb out of a crib is when they're ready for a toddler bed. we have both set up in his room right now, and waiting for the time that he would go to sleep in it.

Thanks a lot ladies, I think I am going to move her into her own room when we move (December) she'll be 11mths by then, and in the new year i think we will be moving her into a bed, I agree that a single bed would be best, especially since shes extremely tall. At 9mths old shes already 30inches tall. (clearly takes after her father!)

My daughter was such a noisy sleeper that she only lasted 5 days in our room - we could still hear her from her own room, but at least we could sleep! My son lasted a bit longer - really until he outgrew the bassinette. We took them out of the cot once they were old enough to climb out anyway - we also didn't bother with 'toddler' beds - we just put a single bed mattress on the floor so there wasn't far to fall!

Ok well i moved my son into a cot in his own room when he was around 3 or 4 months old. Before that he was in a bassinette in our room. As for moving up to a bed, i didn't bother with a toddler bed they aren't as strong as singles and they seem like such an unnessesary use of money. I moved him into a single bed at 14 months. We got him a little kiddie step so as he could get in and out of it easily and put one side up against a wall and a safety rail on the other. ( The step was at the end of the rail toward the bed end so he wouldn't roll/fall out cause there is no gap a the bed head.)
Also it is common practice at the daycare centres here to put the littlies on either little stretcher beds or on a mattress on the floor from around 13 months old. So they too no longer use the cots. Each child and parent is different but generally it would seem that from 13-14 months onwards is when it seems to be done.

All of my children went into their own rooms the day we got home from the hospital- I'm a light sleeper and we found that neither the children or I got decent sleep when I had them in my room. All 3 were in a toddle bed by the time they were 14 months old because they were climbing out of their crib and it was dangerous for them to be in the crib

Same here. My daughter is 16mo and still in a crib in her own room. I moved her from a bassinet in our room to a crib in her room at two mo. She never bed shared and falls asleep fine on her own. She also doesn't try to climb out, but moves a lot so I will wait til she calms down sleep movements which I hear is after two.

mine is 21 months and she is still in a crib. We had her in our room in a bassinet until 3 months and she's been in her own room in a crib ever since. She needs to be rocked everynight though (she has a hard time falling asleep my herself). I would say, she's not ready for a toddler bed yet. But every child is different. About half of her preschool class has moved into a toddler bed. I think it just depends on how independent she is, if she can climb out of the crib (a safety hazard), and how good of a sleeper she is. I dont plan to move her over to a toddler bed until closer to 3 years old. Good luck!
